Uppsala is located about 20 minutes train ride to/from Stockholm-Arlanda international airport and about 40 minutes train ride to/from Stockholm.

From Stockholm-Arlanda Airport

Uppsala Central Station is within walking distance of the conference venue Uppsala Concert & Congress (UKK).

Train

SJ and Mälartåg, as well as SL commuter trains, run from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Uppsala Central Station directly from Sky City between Terminals 4 and 5. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Plan your trip at SJ’s website: https://www.sj.se/en

Bus

Bus line 801, operated by Upplands Lokaltrafik (UL), runs between Arlanda Airport and central Uppsala throughout the day. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. You can buy tickets on board using a credit card; cash is not accepted. Plan your trip at UL’s website: https://www.ul.se/en

Taxi

A taxi ride to Uppsala takes about 30 minutes. The cost ranges from SEK 675 to a maximum of SEK 900 for a standard car (up to 4 passengers). Be sure to ask the driver for a fixed price in advance. Taxi companies based in Uppsala usually offer slightly lower rates than companies from other areas. Payment can be made by credit card or cash. Parking

In case of traveling by car, UKK does not offer its own visitor parking, but there are several parking garages and public parking spaces within walking distance. The nearest garages are Centralgaraget and Kvarnengaraget; other nearby options include garages at Svava, S:t Per Gallerian, and various street-parking zones in central Uppsala. Good to Know

Passport and Visas. Delegates are advised to contact the nearest embassy, consulate or travel agency for information about the passport and visa requirements from their country for entry to Sweden.

Climate and Clothing. In August, Uppsala typically experiences mild and pleasant weather. Daytime temperatures are usually around 20–22 °C, while nights can drop to about 10–12 °C. Local Currency. The Swedish monetary unit is the Swedish krona (SEK). Major credit cards like Visa and Master Card are accepted almost everywhere, also in small businesses. Some does even prefer card payment to cash. Local and regional buses are cash free, but accept Visa and Master Card with pin code. There are many cash-free shops in Sweden, and we recommend you to bring a credit card that is open for transactions made abroad. Exchange rates may vary. Business hours & shopping. Most shops are open from 10:00 to 19:00 on weekdays, 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 12:00 to 17:00 on Sundays. Some major stores may accept euros, but usually only banknotes, not coins. Any change will be given in SEK.

Smoking policy. Sweden has a non-smoking policy, i.e. smoking is prohibited in public buildings, public transport, taxis, buses and trains. All hotel rooms are by default non-smoking.

Electricity. In Sweden the electrical voltage used is 220/230V. Sweden uses Type C and Type F electrical plugs, for more information see here.

Insurance and Vaccinations. The registration fee does not cover insurance for the delegates. The organisers recommend that delegates take out insurance in their home country to cover pre-journey cancellation for personal reasons and necessary insurance to cover accidents, medical expenses and loss of personal belongings during the visit. No vaccinations are needed when visiting Sweden.
